3D printing is a manufacturing technology that enables printing of three-dimensional objects from digital models. 3D prints are created by adding extremely thin layers of material on top of each other - a process also known as “additive manufacturing.”
3D printing is known by names like additive fabrication, rapid prototyping and more. This is the opposite of more traditional manufacturing techniques like carving, machining or laser cutting, where material is removed to create a form.
First the digital 3D model is digitally sliced into super-thin cross sectional layers. The printer then prints these layers, one at a time, from the bottom up until the model is complete.
How does Planet 3D+ work?
We provide you the ambience of a coffee shop and the hardware, software and technology support to enable you to design and print objects for personal, business or industrial applications.

How many cities in the U.K. are your services available?
Our first 3D cafe opens in Brighton and we intend to have a presence in several cities around London and the rest of U K.
Can I design at the Cafe and print at any 3D printer outside the Cafe?
We're focusing mainly on our own computers and machines for now, but will offer the capability to download your CAD and use industrial and other printers if you require.
What is the fee structure at Planet 3D+ Cafe?
Our fee structure will be based on the design complexity, time to print, material chosen and post processing requirements. We would endeavor to be very reasonable to encourage our customers in to making.
Will my confidentiality be protected? Are my files treated confidentially?
Yes, of course. We will not print or publish your design without your written approval. The access is controlled by you and our administrator only.Yes, of course. We will not print or publish your design without your written approval. The access is controlled by you and our administrator only.
Are any designs or models prohibited?
Only those allowed by regulatory authorities will be allowed at our cafe both in terms of software and in terms of printed objects.
What modeling software can I use?
As of now we have 3DS MAX and AUTOCAD. We will soon be adding other professional design softwares.
I am a novice in 3D design, how do I design and print my own model?
We will assist you to learn to design and print if you have a working knowledge of computers and design. Nominal fees are charged. You can also join one of our courses.
Is there a size restriction for the models?
The size depends on the various printing processes and materials, but there are maximum size restrictions based on the printers we use. We can guide you at the design stage itself.
If I bring my design, can it be modified or corrected for errors?
Our software will try and fix this with the help of our experts on site.
What about colours?
Once you've uploaded your model to our computer and chosen a material, you can see which standard colors the material has available. In addition, we have professional help to assist you to decide the most suitable colours.
Which printers do you have?
We are currently using FDM and FFF type of printers with single and dual head. Soon we will be adding SLA, DLP and large format printers.
What are the costs involved?
Our objective is to make 3D printing affordable and accessible to amateurs and professionals and our pricing structure will reflect this.
Is your Cafe open throughout the day?
3D Printing work timings will be from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday to Saturday. While cafeteria will be open from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. all seven days.
Can I be a franchisee in any other city?
